Gaming Recap – 11 July 2011

This was the week I finally beat Blue Dragon, taking my total game time to just under the 100 hour mark. Civ Rev proved a very addictive game clocking up over 32 hours gameplay in just 4 sessions in a little over 3 days; I simply could not put that game down at times -- the epitome of a "one more turn" game!

Boulderdash-XL: Extra Large Disappointment

I’m not sure whether I have unrealistic memories of Boulderdash on my C64, but one thing I know for certain is that Boulderdash-XL is a poor game; So poor in-fact that it makes me question how good the original actually was.  Released onto Xbox Live Marketplace yesterday I couldn’t wait to get my [...]

Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions

I've been spoiled with high quality single player experiences lately, rumours of the demise of single player gaming, it would seem, are grossly exaggerated. Although I wouldn't put Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions on the same level as Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys simple combo-based 3rd person action games, the kind of which were all the rage about a decade ago.

Free games at the end of the Rainbow (Six Vegas)

Since the early hours of Sunday morning my 360 has been running round in circles racking up XP. Which leaves me at a bit of a loose end so I finally logged back into PSN to pick up my two free games (Little Big Planet & WipEout HD/Fury).

Enslaved: Odyssey to the West

If you enjoy story-driven single player games & science-fiction, you have to play this game.  I finished my first playthrough of the campaign in around 8 hours on hard difficulty, unlocking the majority of the achievements, without a guide. I’ve just completed my achievement clean up playthrough [...]

Sherlock Holmes vs Jack the Ripper

Sherlock Holmes: Now for the motive. Despite my almost complete lack of practical experience on the subject, I have a rather precise idea of the usefulness of a uterus and a vagina. Nonetheless, once they are separated from their usual envelope, I am more circumspect as to the uses one can make of them. What do you think, Watson?

Could not make it up if I tried 🙂

G.O.A.T.

I’ve had a second 360 kicking about the house gathering dust for nearly 2 months now as I haven’t got around to putting it on ebay since replacing it with a 360S. h On a whim I decided I’d have a crack at GOAT/Hall of Famer in Rockstar Table Tennis this weekend, taking advantage of the free XBL [...]

Achievement Checklists

Recently I started using Google Docs for my achievement checklists, rather than OpenOffice, so rather than just bin them when I’m finished they’re out there on the internet should anyone find them useful. I never use full walkthroughs, but find it handy having a list of stuff to do as I go through [...]

100’000GS Awards – Most Surprising Game

To celebrate hitting 6 figures I'm going to take a look back at the games I've played and pick out some best/worst of's in various categories. Over the years I've picked up a few games just because they were cheap, or was able to borrow them from a mate. Some of these titles have proven true hidden gems. This award goes to the game that has exceeded my expectations for the game the most.

100’000GS Awards – Most Disappointing Game

To celebrate hitting 6 figures I’m going to take a look back at the games I’ve played and pick out some best/worst of’s in various categories: Most Disappointing Game I still only buy games I want to play, my gamercard remains a true reflection of my personal taste, something I feel is lost when I [...]
