Interrogate some 5th Column soldiers

Bastion

Greetings, Task Force Bedrock. I have a very difficult task for you. Manticore recently discovered some very disturbing data about the 5th Column, and I need you to investigate. My sensors indicate increased 5th Column activity in Independence Port. Please go there, investigate a 5th Column base, and return with any data you find.

This problem must be addressed without delay.

Part 1: Investigate 5th Column base
5th Column base @ Independence Port 5th Column

This base of 5th Column looks newly formed

Mission Complete: One of the 5th Column soldiers you defeated was carrying a set of blueprints.

ClueBlueprints

These blueprints show a new 5th Column base. At a glance it appears that the facility is designed for storage.

Bastion

It appears the 5th Column has a new base. I will scan the blueprints you found for any identifying features; perhaps we can determin the base's location

It is a pleasure to work with you, Task Force Bedrock.

Investigate the base

Bastion

I've examined these blueprints you found, and I think I've determined the location of the 5th Column's new base. I need you to investigate that base, Task Force Bedrock. We must find out what the 5th Column is using it for.

I believe the base has just been completed, so you should have the element of surprise.

Part 2: Defeat all soldiers in base
5th Column base @ Independence Port

The smell of fresh paint is almost overwhelming.

Mission Complete: You have defeated the 5th Column.

ClueReinhart conversation

When you arrested him, the 5th Column agent Reinhart said:

'You will not be able to stop the new Mekmen; they are more powerful that you know! You may have destroyed our latest facility, but there are others, and they will drag you down!'

Bastion

If that 5th Column agent was telling the truth, we have our work cut out for us. I've begun the search for the other 5th Column facilities he spoke of. With luck, you'll be able to take them out before they become a threat.

Shut down the facility and return with any data you find

Bastion

It looks like that 5th Column agent may have been telling the truth when he warned you of their other facilities. I have located one in Talos Island; it looks like it's been around for a while, so they probably have a full supply of Mekmen. That's a good thing, because we need to know everything we can about these new Mekmen. I need you to shut down that facility and return with any data you find.

I don't have any data on the abilities of these new Mekmen, so be wary.

Part 3: Defeat base leader, his guards (Find evidence, 3 computers to disable)
5th Column base @ Talos Island

This facility is older than the other 5th Column base you shut down. You have to assume the Column has been using it for many months.

Objective: You have disabled the 5th Column computer.

Objective: You have found some Mekmen parts.

ClueMekman parts

These parts are clearly used in creating the new 5th Column Mekmen.

Mission Complete: You have defeated the 5th Column and found some Mekman parts.

Bastion

Well done, Task Force Slate. These Mekmen parts you found could tell us a lot about the 5th Column's new robots. I'll begin the analysis immediately.

Take the parts to Fareed Abdullah for examination

Bastion

My scans can't seem to determine anything from these new Mekmen parts. Please take the parts to Fareed Abdullah for examination. Then get over to Steel canyon; I've located another Mekmen storage facility there.

My scan indicates that the Steel Canyon facility has been in operation for quite some time. No doubt it will be heavily guarded.

Part 4: Take parts to Fareed Abdullah
Delivery @ Steel Canyon
Fareed Abdullah

So these are the Mekmen parts, huh? Interesting. I'll get to work analyzing them immediately. As soon as I have something, I'll let Bastion know.

Part 5: Defeat base leader, his guards
5th Column base @ Skyway City

The layout of this facility mimics the other two exactly.

Mission Complete: You defeated the 5th Column.

Bastion

Thanks for taking care of that Mekmen storage facility. it's a good thing you did; Fareed has completed his analysis of the Mekmen parts, and the results are quite alarming. I now know how the Mekmen were improved, and why my scans were not effective. They were built using the same technology that I was built with.

Halt production of the new Mekmen

Bastion

It seems these new Mekmen have been built using the same technology that created me. I must warn you, that will make them quite dangerous. With Manticore's help, I've located the facility where these Mekmen are beign built. I need you to get over there and halt the production of these new Mekmen.

This is difficult for me, Task Force Slate. Thank you for helping me.

Part 6: Defeat base leader, his guards
5th Column base @ Talos Island

This hiss and whirr of great machinery tells you that Mekman production is going smoothly

Mission Complete: You have stopped the production of the new Mekmen.

Bastion

That was well done, Task Force Slate. But we must make certain there are no other facilities. If the 5th Column continues to manufacture these new Mekmen, the results will be disastrous.

Your fame is growing by leaps and bounds.

Go to Independence Port and see if you can learn anything from the 5th Column soldiers there

Bastion

We need to know if the 5th Column is producing any more of these advanced Mekmen. I would like you to go to Independence Port and see if you can learn anything from the 5th Column soldiers there.

Those advanced Mekmen could be a real threat to this city, Task Force Slate. We need to take whatever steps necessary to stop their production.

Part 7: Question 5th Column soldiers (Defeat 40 5th Column)
Defeat x @ Independence Port

Mission Complete: One of the 5th Column soldiers you defeated was carrying a data disc.

ClueData disc

This data disc, found on a 5th Column soldier, should lead you to the remaining Mekmen production facilities.

Bastion

This data disc should lead us to the 5th Column's Mekmen production plants. Good work, Task Force Slate.

Shut down the facility

Bastion

I have analyzed the disc you recovered from the 5th Column agents. It gives the locations of several facilities that are producing the 5ht Column's new, advanced Mekmen. The first facility is in Talos Island. Please shut down the facility and then return here.

Go quickly, Task Force Stone.

Part 8: Defeat all soldiers in base (3 computer systems to disable)
5th Column base @ Talos Island

You managed to breach security quickly and quietly.

Objective: You have disabled the 5th Column computer.

Mission Complete: You have shut down the 5th Column manufacturing facility.

Bastion

Thanks for shutting down that Mekman production plant, Red Tomax. We've got two more to go.

Shut down Independence Port facility

Bastion

I've determined that the second Mekman production plany is located in Independence Port. Please shut down the Independence Port facility, then return here.

If you can learn anything more about the 5th Column's new Mekmen, it would be most helpful.

Part 9: Defeat all soldiers in base (3 computer systems to disable)
5th Column base @ Independence Port

The base seems quiet and sparsely staffed. Perhaps these new Mekmen are not the 5th Column's priority.

Objective: You have disabled the 5th Column computer.

Mission Complete: You have shut down the 5th Column manufacturing facility.

Bastion

Any new data about the 5th Column's advanced Mekmen? No? Well, on to the third facility.

Shut down the facility

Bastion

The last Mekman production facility is in Dark Astoria. If you can shut down that facility, we may be able to completely wipe out the threat these new Mekmen pose.

You have performed admirably in this quest, my friends. I have no doubt you can see it through to the end.

Part 10: Defeat all soldiers in base (4 computer systems to disable)
5th Column base @ Dark Astoria

Production in this facility is obviosly booming. The loud noise of the machinery masks your entrance nicely.

Objective: You have disabled the 5th Column computer.

Objective: You have disabled the 5th Column computer and accessed an important file.

ClueVandal's location

These coordinates, extracted from a 5th Column computer, tell you the last know location of Vandal, the mastermind behind the advanced Mekmen.

Mission Complete: You shut down the 5th Column facility amd discovered that Vandal is behind the Mekmen enhancments.

Bastion

Vandal. I haven't heard that name in years. It was the code name of Othman Doul, the technical genius behind the 5th Column's original Mekmen. I should have known he was behind these new, advanced robots.

Arrest Vandal and ensure that he will do no more harm

Bastion

This task is extremely dangerous, Task Force Slate. And it is extremely important to me. If Vandal is using my technology to create these new, advanced Mekmen, then I am, in some way, responsible for the havoc they will wreck. Please arrest Vandal and ensure that he will do no more harm.

You have my gratitude, Task Force Slate.

Part 11: Defeat Vandal and his minions
5th Column base @ Independence Port

Filled with grim determination, you begin your assault on Vandal's base.

Vandal [Arch-Villain]
The fiend known as Vandal was once a humble tinkerer named Othman Doul. In the late 1930's, the villain Requiem recognized Doul's usefulness and recruited him to the nascent 5th Column. Othman was happy to oblige, since it meant he could indulge his scientific curiosity without restraint. Over the years, Vandal has mechanically augmented himself to prolong his lifespan. Now, he seeks to advance his own position within the 5th Column and perhaps even challenge Requiem for supremacy.

Mission Complete: You have defeated Vandal!

Citadel's Assistant
Awarded for completing the final mission of the Task Force.
Bastion

I cannot thank you enough for your efforts in these past few days. I must admit, I was disturbed by the idea that my own technology was being used to improve the 5th Column Mekmen! Now that their creator is behind bars, I can hold my head up high.

There is no possible way for me to repay this debt. I am eternally grateful.
