Thursday August 23rd, 2001: Music

4 hours travelling to Cardiff on public transport (mainly on the trains), 2 1/2 hours queuing outside the arena, 1 1/2 hours waiting inside the Arena, and finally a painful hour long set by Gorky's Zygotic Mynci. That's what it took to see the Manics in Cardiff, but hell was it worth it!

The 80 minute (?) set was the best 80 minutes of my life; we managed to get right at the front and were in the third row of people standing. The set contained (that I remember)...

  • [GT] Motown Junk (intro: Jump, Van Halen), You Love Us, Motorcycle Emptiness, It's So Easy (?)
  • [HB] Archives Of Pain
  • [EMG] Everything Must Go, Design For Life, Kevin Karter, Small Black Flowers That Grow In The Sky,
  • [TIMT] You Stole The Sun From My Heart, The Masses Against The Classes,
  • [KYE] Ocean Spray, Let Robeson Sing, Miss Europa Disco Dancer

One song sticks out for me though - Archives of pain. Don't get me wrong, I like the new stuff, but I went primarily for the early Manics - and I was not disappointed.
