Started Catch 22 ... when I'll finish it? God only knows!

Heard on the radio that Metallica turned up unannounced at Download and performed a set on the Scuzz stage on Sunday. The cynic in me thinks maybe their upcoming album realese may have had something to do with their late decision to play the festival.

Havermeyer was a lead bombarbier who never missed. Yossarian was a lead bombardier who had been demoted because he no longer gave a damn whether he missed or not. He had decided to liver forever or die in the attempt, and his only mission each time he went up was to come down alive.

- Joseph Heller (Catch-22)

I'm reading Less Than Zero today, according to the back page blurb: "... Less Than Zero, is a raw and powerful portrayal of a young generation that has experienced sex, drugs and disaffection at too early an age. ... Less Than Zero is the shocking coming-of-age novel about the casual nihilism that comes with youth and money".

Litmanen

Surely Litmanen's goal was worth 2?

"We shall abolish the orgasm."

I'm feeling a little more cheery today, don't particularly know why, but I am. Started reading 1984 (George Orwell).

Finished American Psycho - THIS IS NOT AN EXIT.

"How could she ever understand that there isn't any way I could be disappointed since I no longer find anything worth looking forward to?"

Started reading Candide (Voltaire). Watched Spaced. Survived another 24 hours.

"Beautiful mistress, when a man is in love, is jealous, and has been flogged by the Inquisition, he does the most surprising things."

Read the final pages of Torture Garden, it's one of those endings that leaves you thinking, but then the whole book is like that.

Started American Psycho, I've noted already that I don't identify as much with the Bateman in the book as I did with the Bateman in the film, not sure whether this is a good thing or not?

"Have I told you what a smashing blouse you have on?", "No", "Well here goes then, what a smashing blouse you have on."

- Richey, Bottom (Rick Mayall, Ade Edmonson)

Started reading Everything (A Book About Manic Street Preachers), by Simon Price. Having never finished a book of my own accord it'll be interesting to see how far I can get with this one.

Every generation has its one defining moment. We are yours.

- Nicky Wire
